i don't particularly find it right to bash people (or their certain qualities) but i really just have to say that i don't find her work that impressive. i know people with a better sense of wit and creativity. as i told a friend a while ago, the only reason why she's hailed for her work is because it gets published regularly in a national broadsheet. this is extremely foul, and i know i come off as bitter (which i probably am, haha), but really now?!! i suppose that her winning card (i read her essay) would probably be the fact that she was brimming with heartfelt sincerity. at the very least, she isn't at all fake or contrived. oh well. i can't blame her if i don't agree with her views in life. the familiar reminder "write what you know" applies to all cases, and obviously, she lives by that. can't do much about that.
